About Mabank
Mabank was founded around 1900, when ranchers Mason and Eubank set aside a square mile beside the new Texas Trunk Railroad. The town's name combines theirs. Residents and businesses from nearby Lawndale soon moved over, including the local newspaper, which became the Mabank Courier. The town grew steadily after Cedar Creek Lake was completed in 1965. Today Mabank straddles Kaufman and Henderson counties along U.S. Route 175, 54 miles southeast of downtown Dallas. Market Street hosts some of the area's best-loved seasonal events.
