Trinidad, Texas

Trinidad is a river town at the south end of Cedar Creek Lake, between the lake's dam and the Trinity River. It's one of 13 communities served by the Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.

About Trinidad

Trinidad's story starts around 1840 with ferries across the Trinity River, then called the Trinidad River, which gave the town its name. A store and saloon stood here by 1844, when the settlement was known as Trinity Switch. It became a railroad station in 1880 and took the name Trinidad that year. Texas Power and Light opened a plant on the river in the 1920s. Today State Highway 31 carries traffic east to Athens (14 miles) and west toward Corsicana.
